    My friend gave me this about 10 years ago. It's signed on the bottom & titled as above. Dated 1949. I believe she's a character from the book Valley of the Moon by Jack London. I've seen other pieces by McCarty Brothers with same title, but they are Asian figurines.

      this looks like Jessie Grime's work! i just found two pieces together - a McCarty Bros planter and a Jessie Grime's one, and your McCarty piece looks just like a Grimes! i think there must have been a connection in the 1940s.
