My latest vase is one perfect for the coming spring - such a cheerful shade of green! I was a little surprised at the nice size of this vase when it arrived - it stands 6-3/4" tall - larger than I was expecting. The body consists of a very interesting iridescent opal-cream glass with tan mottling that has an overall random texture to it, it is threaded with green, and also cased on the inside with green. The threading is flush with the surface of the vase - not visibly raised in any way. It has a smooth ground pontil showing white glass.
I have seen vases of this type attributed to Kralik - they can be seen with red, purple and green threading and interiors, and are sometimes marked with a straight line 'Czechoslovakia' on the bottom. To me, the font is quite different from that used by Kralik on other vases, and the decor and colors just don't feel like Kralik to me, either, so I am going to list this as Bohemian for now.
Very nice example.... Great shade of green on the interior also.
Thanks! I am really pleased with it - I think it may just need some bright daffodils in it for a little while! :)
What a very shapely vase, Michelle. The strong dark green is a wonderful contrast to the delicate looking exterior. I love image one with the green just 'peeping' out :)
My vote would have to be Kralik. Not only has the form been identified before as Kralik, but for me, it's the matching interior color with exterior threading... very tell tale technique in their tooled and threaded vases.
Thanks, twentiethe, good to know. I'll have to go look through some Kralik shapes again.
What other décors is the shape found in?
I realize the décor is on Kralik-glass.com as Kralik, but that is based on an attribution by someone else from many years ago. In looking to substantiate the attribution recently, I personally could not personally find examples of this form in another Kralik décor. Maybe I just do not have a record of it. I would appreciate any help you can provide.
Peggy, thanks so much. I really like the contrast, too, and the first image is my favorite as well. :)
It looks beautiful in green! Recently I posted one in maroon Michelle, and I love yours just as much! I'd love to have a pair wink, wink lol.
BTW... I love the pics!
Thank you, Rick! I LOVED your vase in the dark red/maroon - I hope to find one like it someday. Wouldn't they make a great red and green pair for the holidays? Wink back at you! ;)
Lol Michelle, yes they'd look great together... that was what my wink, wink was about... I want a pair!!
This isn't Rindskopf..... ;)
Great piece!
Well, I think I can still fit it in on a shelf somewhere... ;)
If not....I have room :D
I'll keep that in mind! :)
