    Please anybody know anything about this lock really unusual shape the only markings I can see through a magnifying glass is A backwards G and and a G the right way around

      This is one style of a "screw key" lock. According to Arnall's "The Padlock Collector" this is a "gun rack lock" made from 1898.

      What are the general price they range from and are they hard to find

      These are scarce but not "rare". SIMILAR, but newer, ones sell on ebay for $10 - $20. I have a pair like this on a set of hand-forged wrist shackles. If I REALLY needed one I might pay up to $35 but I'd expect one to sell for $20 - $25.

      That's not bad as i did not buy for a lot I would be happy if I got around £12 for it
