I thought this was just beautiful! There are even stones set into the wave patterns on the sides. The stones are fully cut and once were foil backed. Not sure if they are glass or something else. No obvious scratches to be found. No clue how old it might be. Reminds me of a giant clam, lol!
I wonder how much it would cost to have this ring made in silver, using the same stones and scrap silver donated by myself. Hmmmm....??
Thanks for looking.
Bonnie
Very very cool design, Bonnie! I guess there's no harm in asking around, don't imagine it would be that pricey, considering you are providing the materials, would be a question of making a mold from your ring, etc.
That is beautiful. I'm glad you made the remark about making it now because being so new to collecting old things, I'm starting to think we are too plugged in to be creative these days. Good thing we are all saving all this old stuff!! ;)
katherine & OGF: I thought it was interesting that despite this ring being silver plated and obviously was worn by someone, the wear to the plating is very minimal. Normally, rings like that one are very discolored in a short time. Having it reproduced in silver would be an investment, and I would have a gorgeous ring to wear. I only have about 30 rings, lol!!
Only 30 rings... need many more, Bonnie ; -)
Sure, the design of this one is very appealing!
Nothing in only asking for the possibility of having it duplicate in silver will hurt ;-)
While some silverplated jewelry will flake, some is very durable and shines right up, and tends not to oxidise as much as silver jewelry.
LOL@kyratango, thirty rings is not enough!! I want to see your warehouse full of beauties, afraid I would get lost in there! :)
