Found this today while treasure hunting. Isn't it lovely? I think it's a pin tray but unsure. What do y'all think? It's a thin stamped metal. Not sure if it's brass but it's rigid. It's about the size of a soap dish. 5" long X 2.25" wide. Beautiful detail!

What a gorgeous find. Not entirely sure it's a pin tray as there is no part of it without design. Normally pin trays are designed on the edges with a depressed area to hold small objects. Looks to be art nouveau. Examine it very closely to see if there are any stamps on it anywhere. Test it with a magnet, too.

Thank you Efesgirl. After more research last night I found several listings of the exact item. All of them are referring to it as a Repousse pin tray from the early 1900s. They are also calling it either gold gilt or tin/brass. I'm still a bit confused on what it is. Nonetheless, it's a gorgeous piece and I love it! Thank you again for the information.

I did get my loop out and closely examined it to find no markings. A magnet does not stick to it.

Lol. The sides are raised a bit. But I don't know...I'm no expert. ????
