This vase is fairly heavy. There are 4 panels with alternating nymphs? There are apple trees, which are painted. The apples are red, the leaves are brassy, and the trunks copper.
Ok. I just washed this, my hands now smell like metal and funky-- egg tempera?
I know nothing of this style. It looks old, but it may be nothing special, for $3.00, I took a chance.
I need help identifying this!
I believe they call these cold painted vases !! very beautiful!!

My daughter thinks this is bronze, I think glass.
Thanks for all of the info, Sean, I have yet to see anything like this.
Kevin ??????looks like stoneware pottery to me but a picture is very hard to tell. It was my first instinct. May I see the base if you have time...Kevin you got any ideas??
it's beautiful by the way and looks very much from the art nouveau period...where do you live? are you French?
The vessel is metal. I thought it was painted glass, but it is metal, still can't i.d. it. It is a dirty thing, but I dont want to harm it.
well Emme , you just have thrown me off bigtime.
Well Sean68, I have given up. Although the link you sent did say that most of the cold painting was done on metal.
true!!! LOL!!!!
