Cool! Same here. Keep up the collecting man, I started collecting around when I was your age. Then lost interest, but now came back with seriousness. I'm 17 now.

I too thought this was a Marine Corps patch, but , something rtroubles me about it. I will do some research and check back later.......

looks to be a WW1 Marine Corps chevron for a private first class. between ww1 and ww2 the dark area was made wider.

O.K., I've done some looking and I hink I can safely say that this is NOT a Marine Corps rank, all Marine Corps devices have crossed rifles under the chevrons except Pvt. but Pvt. only has one chevron...............I have looked at several other WWI divisions and have not yet found any thing like it. So I would say at this point it remains a mystery, can you tell us anything else about it , like where you got it or what size it is ( maybe a pic next to an item of common know size) just trying to help here...........

One other question, is this the back?

Hello thank you everyone for taking interest @ pop abides it's a aviation patch and it's the front and I recieved the book which I believe the earliest date is from 1959 0r so thanks again everyone

It looks like the bottom half of a Navy 'Petty Officer' Rank Badge... When they are purchased they all have three (3) chevrons, all Three were used for First Class, Two were used for Second Class and One was used for Third Class. So if a person was Third Class then these would be left over after trimming.......That's all I've got from the time period you indicate....I was Navy from 1963 to 1967......
