    i haven't looked up Shibata Japan yet, but i like the drawing/painting on this alot. reminds me of the first print here - a circa 1910 print of the work of a famous japanese fabric designer: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/50679-frames-for-old-and-unusual-art-prints

      It appears as though they used that chrysanthemum decor on other shapes as well & found other examples of that shape with different decors.
      Those colours really stand out on that dark background!
