Barley Twist desk and chair

I found this set at an estate sale. I would like to know more about it. I know the legs are barley twist. Two side drawers pull out using a side-groove guide (I have never seen this before). Cane inlay in the back of the desk between to letter holders.

If anyone could date this for me and tell me more about Barley Twist, I would be grateful.
