Found this knife in my uncles Vietnam duffle bag..he passed away a few years ago sadly.my aunt gifted the knife to me..I cleaned her up a bit.i absolutely love it!!! hoping someone could enlighten me to the knife history. The blade says compass and it was made in Pakistan.
I love Pakistani knives ~ I think I've got close to a hundred of them. For the money, they're one of my favorite knives, second only to Japanese-made knifes. But, unless you're the original owner who bought the knife brand new in the year it was manufactured, it's hard to say exactly when a particular Pakistani knife was made, because a Pakistani knife made 20, 30, 40 years ago looks exactly the same as a same model knife made just a year or two ago. Do you know if your uncle bought the knife new or used? When did he get this knife? Did he get it during the Vietnam War, or sometime afterwards and then stored the knife in his Vietnam duffle bag? I think the answers to such questions can perhaps help in determining the knife's history. But just looking at the knife, this particular model could have been made as far back as the 1970's or as recently as just a few years ago, the design and materials have hardly changed in over 40 years.
If UncleRon sees your post, I'm sure he can give you a lot of good information. Let's hope he eventually drops by.
