    Hi,

I was gifted this ship by a neighbor that passed. All I was advised is that is was brought to the states around WW2 era. Any info would be amazing. Thank you!

Nice ship! Sorry to hear your neighbor passed. Nice to leave this to you.

It's beautifully made that's for sure, so much detail. Owned by a rich merchant? Hope someone will happen along that can tell if it's Japanese or Chinese. It's not flying any flag(s). Perhaps made by a POW.

Aw, Gilligan, you're trying to take all the fun out of my life ! One man's junk, is another mans treasure ! Oops ! Just slipped out. Almost certain, the dragon is Chinese. PS: The extra "g" was intentional & think I will retain it.

I did a little work for a store here that imported a lot(+) of these model ships of all designs from the Orient. Quit often we got ones with tangled lines & I often helped untangle them & so had 1st hand inspection of the quality. They were extremely well made & sold at reasonable prices here (SXM). This looks like the same grade.
