What a wonderful family heirloom and to have all her clothes , She is a German bisque doll called a dolly Face on a jointed composition body , I would love to know what is markings in back of her neck telling maker , careful handling clothes as they can deteriorate from oils on hands . Love her but a trip to beauty parlor would make her mohair wig beautiful . Thanks for sharing . She dates early 1900's.

I haven't studied bisque dolls nearly as closely as china head dolls, but she is a desirable doll if the head is in impeccable condition, i.e no chips, breaks etc. As Manikin mentioned, she is a dolly face, the pale bisque is certainly a plus (pale will always grab my eye over darker bisque), and is usually seen as more desirable and possibly a bit earlier. Open mouths are more commonly found than closed, closed mouth dolls realize greater values generally. Do you mean Kestner? If so, Kestner is one of the earlier German doll makers, his dolls being generally of exceptional quality. The '5' marking is likely a size number. JDK's marking's tended to vary, some were simply marked with a sizing number from my experience, others were marked with a mold number, made in Germany & JDK. This is assuming what you've written is meaning Kestner. Fantastic to see those clothes, that coral coloured one is fantastic.

thanks manikin. especially for the bit about touching the cloths. i can now put a note that shes a dolly face in her box. and thanks also chinaheads. i dont know if its kestner as the writing is not very clear on the valuation so ive put a copy up for you to check.
