Hi! I recently bought a beautiful dining room table, 4 chairs, one bench and hutch that I'm trying to locate information on. The only marking is a frayed tag that reads Kuehne Manufacturing - Top Color Cherry - Mlg'g Brass.
I found it at a unique thrift store about 2 months ago.
I've searched online for Kuehne and found some information regarding the business but not much in the way of dining room sets. I did find a set like mine that sold in Texas a few years back. I've included 2 photos of that set. Mine is identical, except in color. The last photo showing is the one that I bought.
Does anyone know anything about the style or year? If I could just find out what year this is from I'd be happy. In a way I guess it's a lucky find since I can't find anything (except the one that sold in Texas).
I've continued to look online and still cannot find much, if anything, about the dinettes made by Kuehne. Anyone have an approximation as to what year this particular set is?
I'm wondering what you are typing into your search engine. I typed "Kuehne Dining", and didn't have to look further. Most of the furniture that came back is retro-50's-60's kitchen sets. I did an image search on Kuehne.

Hi Gillian! Thank you for the feedback. I did search for Kuehne Dining along with Kuehne Bench, Kuehne Formica and similar words. Unfortunately I can't find the set that I have. Nor can I find information on the various sets sold by Kuehne Manufacturing. I'll try browsing the photos at Pinterest though. Thank you for the suggestion.

Hi Raineydayswin. I've not yet found anything online about the set that I bought. I've reviewed all the Kuehne Khrome sets, ads, booklets etc, and still no luck. I don't think it's part of the Khrome series because the lines are different and, there's no "chrome". I love the set, but it's boggling my mind.
I just updated the photos in hopes that someone who's familiar with this design sees them.

I just saw your post regarding your Kuehne set. Kuehne furniture was manufactured in Mattoon and Flora, IL. Kuehne opened a plant in Mattoon in 1932 and closed in 1965. My father-in-law had a cousin and numerous friends that worked at the Mattoon plant. btw: My father-in-laws family were from Mattoon, IL.
Kuehne started manufacturing solid oak dining sets in the early 1930's but in the early 50's started making the formica tables/chairs.
The plant closed due to Kuehne not appreciating the workers seeking union representation and subsequently they closed their doors.
Kuehne dining sets are harder and harder to find and quite sought after. I've seen some table/chairs sets going between $600-$700 here in IL. (of course those are sets in really good condition) Even the sets needing re-chroming/reupholstery are selling for $600.
Does your hutch have a Kuehne marking?
I have a chrome drop leaf table fro Kuehne that was my great grandmothers. I wouldn't sell it for any amount of money!
