I feel kind of lied to on this piece. A large sticker at Dibs! For Resale said "Unusual serving tray."
Well, it was covering up the 2 large dark dots that are where the glaze did not cover over.
Another thing on the glaze: There in the pink colour are what look like many little, short fibers in it. Why?
I can hide those using white paint or leave it. Not sure what to do. Suggestions?
But I picked this up as a future gift to my mom. It looks fairly old to me, and she loves old porcelain and such. I know she'll also adore the coral-pink colour of this and how it is not symmetrical-- the groups of flowers differ and so do the handles' holes.
Click on pic 2 and look at the glare. Decide for yourself if that is a Roman Numeral 2 (II) or some sort of Chinese marking. Otherwise, it is merely marked in blue with "FPS" and in red with "265'8".
FPS only turns up French Porcelain Society, which I don't think this is from as they seem to collect it, not make it.
Anyone know FPS, what this is exactly, and how old it is? I'd like to tell my mother all about it when I give it to her.
Thank you. :)
Can't help you with the dish ID but it's very beautiful! Your mom is lucky to have a son like you, and i think she'll love it :-)
Thanks, Anna. :)
I'm even now researching it but am finding nothing on "FPS".
Hi,
It is a beautiful piece. If the pink paint on it is a little rough to the touch it may be a bisque and a Bavarian piece. I have a cup and saucer similar looking to that color and finish with no markings... Good Luck!
Thank you for some more stuff to go off of!
I was unable to find anything on it last night.
