Can anyone tell me about this pendant? I've never seen anything like it. (It looks somehow Art Nouveau to me, but it's in perfect shape, so -- ?) I found it at a thrift shop (!!), so it has no history. The pendant is about two inches long, enameled sterling silver with no marks, on an ordinary Italian sterling box chain. It's very well made (the enamel work has lovely subtle coloring that looks brand new) and seems to be in mint condition. I can't find anything similar by searching either its image or keywords.

It's even more beautiful than the photos show -- really a tiny work of art. I love it, and I'd love to know more about it and how best to care for it (the previous owner did an awesome job). Thanks, all!

      Made by an artist! superb!
You'll find earrings exacty the same described as "Victorian Japanesque" there, mid of the page when scrolling down:

I doubt though they might be that old... Not the shape that was fashionable at the time, plus lacking of old patina (very thin scratches, tarnish on unreacheable to cleaning areas)...

And, forgot to welcome you to CW! :-)

Wow, kyratango, I'm impressed -- how did you find that reference so fast? Obviously I've come to the right place!

I don't see how it can be that old, either -- the enamel really looks absolutely fresh. But the workmanship is terrific -- it's not a knockoff. Do you know who might have the right (and skill) to copy an old design?

Thank you for the welcome. I think I'm going to like it here. :)

In my mind, the earrings are mis- described for the era! Even knowledgeable sellers can fail...
I Google for silver enamel heron images et voilà :-)
      Thanks for the thanks!

The hoops on the earrings are totally modern (I guess they could be replacements.). I'm surprised at Lang's!

I also think it's a contemporary artisan piece. It's beautiful and was probably expensive. It's made by hand and that particular glitter in the enamel is something we do not see in pieces made before 1980s.

Davyd, thank you very for your comment. I see the glitter you're talking about, though I haven't seen enough old pieces to recognize it as modern. But that definitely narrows the time frame down, doesn't it?

I'd be very happy to learn that this pendant is modern; that might mean I could get the matching earrings without hocking the house. :)

Kyra, would it be inappropriate to call or email Lang's and ask them about the pair on their site? They might be interested in knowing about a pendant, I would think, even though it's NFS.

I think I would email them with pics, saying you have the matching pendant, but don't say you think it is modern ;-)

Perhaps they would buy it for $$$, a bargain is a bargain!

Hi these posts are 4 years old so I’m not sure if you’re going to read this. I bought the earrings that match your pendant in 1997 at a wild bird food shop in Carmel Indiana. I paid $50 for them. For some reason I think it was a local artist but I don’t know. I also have similar earrings with snowy egrets in them. I loved my earrings and wore them almost daily for years. I just used a soft silver cleaning cloth. After about 15 years the enamel cracked and separated from the silver
