    (103 items)

    Pretty good value for $1.
Takacs ceramics are relatively common I think as I remember seeing them(wall plates) in relatives' houses over the years but things get broken I guess and these items become rarer?
I've found out that Alexander Takacs was Hungarian and came to Australia in 1948, set up a ceramics studio in Bowral, New South Wales which I find funny seeing the sticker on the base is for Queensland!
There was the original price sticker of $7.50 but I removed that.

That label it seems is a bit of a mystery ..... it has been seen on another TAKASC piece and on a totally unrelated piece of bird sculpture.

It seems "We make it great in the Sunshine State" was a favourite saying of one of Queensland's State M.P.'s: the Hon. Norman Edward (Norm) Lee. It became part of a pro-Queensland slogan campaign in 1979 by the Government of the State Premier the Rt. Hon Johannes Bjelke-Petersen.

It was used on a Xmas card sent to constituents in Dec. 1979 by Norm Lee and seems to have been used on products in the Brisbane area. Lee was the member for Yeronga - a southern area of Brisbane from 1964-89 .

I've seen it on some furniture made in the Brisbane area too.
