Took a lot of research for me to figure this one out... But I think I finally did. Does anyone have one like it? Still not sure why it's got that Mercury glass look?

So everything I found when searching for "Pigeon" oil lamps was leading me to those French, non-explosive gasoline lamps. I searched over and over and finally found some obscure reference to other types of lamps made by Pigeon - in France! So switched my Google search language to French, added an "e" to search for "lampe," roped in my French Canadian husband as translator, and FINALLY found a site that talked about these lamps. Made in the 1950's or 60's, in several different colors. I'll post a picture in a separate post...
