    Without seeing it in a book about Fieldings pottery I would never guess what for this dish was used, I wouldn't even consider it as a dish, but a trinket box. It has a nice metal lid. Crazed all over - this is typical for the CD pottery. According to the back stamp it was produced in the early 20th century. Around 5'' in diameter, hand painted over the transfer.

      It could be a muffin holder - English proper muffins, not those pretend cake ones.
      Maybe it helped keep them warm so butter would melt into it before the jam was spread on top. Oh stop! I'm just hungry......
