    I love her!

She sits on the mantel in our bedroom, I didn't want to hang her, nor having her framed... I feel she must be free :-D

No signature, had been restored at one time.

What size is the painting Kyra? Do you know who painted her?
    2. mikelv85 mikelv85, 9 years ago
Well she is lovely Kyra. A frame is like jewelry....and every woman loves jewelry. I bet she wouldn't mind a bit if the right one came along. :)
    3. kyratango kyratango, 9 years ago
She is 38cm wide by 46.5cm high or little under 15" by 18.1/3".
Thank you Gillian for your interest and love :-)
I have no idea of the artist, nor the model id, and think I'll never know!

Many thanks for loving my dear Lady,
      Jean,
      Aura,
      Lisa,
      Melanie and Mike!

Kyra - you may find out who she is, and who the artist is. I just discovered those things about a picture of mine, bought years, and years ago on visit to Montreal. And at the weekend, there it was. Online, (can't remember where).

It's a painting done by a group of women from Montreal who formed a painting group, from 1920-1933.

An exhibition of their paintings is being shown right now until May at the gallery where I live. Not too far to walk to.

Searching for French feminist end of 19th, I came to this:

      Photo portraits:

      What do you think?

Stunning portrait! And who knows, that lady might be Severine. Surely there is a lot of similarity :)
    15. Gillian, 9 years ago
No I don't think so. Yours is a very soft looking face, and fine hair. The eyebrows are all wrong as well. Though maybe the artist was just trying to soften up the model. But, I really don't think this is it.
    16. kyratango kyratango, 9 years ago
Right, there are similarities but also differences... Severine was quite a person!
    17. katherinescollections katherinescollections, 9 years ago
      Strong similarity!
    18. Gillian, 9 years ago
The nose is so very wrong.

The 1st pic that shows up looks like a lot of character! The second pic looks much different, depending on my mood I think. It shows some kindness somehow. Still don't think I'd want to mess with her. It's a great piece. Look forward to see if anyone know more about her.
      Thanks for sharing it.
