I had been wanting an old phonograph of my own for as long as i can remember. My husband and i had went to visit my IL on an unexpected visit and stumbled across this. Our anniversary just happened to be around that time so he purchased it as a gift for our anniversary. This has a paneled oak horn and is in excellent condition. From what i found online {which was very limited} it's possibly a 1906 model. does anyone have any info on this or where i can find an original manual as I only found one machine with this same type of horn but the entire machine case and horn had been sanded and refinished removing all decals. mine has the original decals still intact and are not replica decals as you see on many edison machines on ebay. This machine plays 78s. We talked about adding it to our home owners insurance if anyone thinks we should do so or has done so what would i insure it for? Any info would be appreciated.

It is beautiful. Does anyone have any specifics on it? Or know where I could get my hands on a manual for it? Name of it etc?

Thank you for clarifying phonologic! The old man we purchased it from told me at the time however i couldn't remember and it wasn't on the receipt lol. Is this a rare model? I couldn't find anything besides that refinished one on an old listing online. It works great and has been very well kept.

Not sure why my reply was omitted earlier. Your machine is not all that rare, but what makes it more special is the wooden horn. In the day the purchaser had the option of getting a wooden horn for an additional $5. I have a BI model that has a wooden horn. When I received it, the horn had over 10 coats of paint on it. Feel free to contact me if you need further information.

Wow phonologic! whoever in the world would paint a wooden horn? I found some machines in pretty poor condition that i thought i could pick up cheap and have them worked on and the guy wouldn't turn loose of a messed up old busybee for less than $900 It was pretty rusty and needed ALOT of work done. I'm looking at purchasing a modernola with the lamp on top. I do have a victrola that needs some maintainance because i cant tell if a mainspring is sprung or if it's just dirty. It probably hadn't been used in a long time and i know that grease hardens in there. It's in beautiful condition however when the needle goes down it slows until it stops.

Could be a number of things. Weak springs, governor adjustment, solidified grease or even gear alignment. If you can wind it all the way up, then the spring isn't broken. I have a companion machine to the Busy Bee called the Aretino. I will post it today.

Hmmm It winds but every now and then makes a thunking sound. I don't know what to make of it and no one in our area works on them. Do you have a website? Thanks!
