I believe its an f,a, bower knife from viewing a lot of others. the Solingen is barely noticeable on this knife. I got it with another vintage german knife. the fella I got it from said they were both found at an estate in a box in a barn together. I really like it a lot. its my only wooden handled vintage knife. its wood isn't cracked any where.
any one else have a knife like this. id love to hear more about it.

Sorry I can't help you with this one, Andy. It's a really great looking knife, though. My favorite so far from your collection. I know it's not, but, to my eyes, it looks a little bit like a bayonet.

thanks Nevada. hope its alright to call ya that. I know how to pronounce your name, but im not too sure ill spell it correctly . lol..... kiyoshee ?

it does look similar to a bayonet. it looks a lot like a hollow ground blade too, but most of those don't have a blood groove.

ive been looking for other knives like this 1. just seen a Solingen Germany 4 seasons knife with the exact same blade and guard. the handle is the same shape and size. , but it was a candy striped handle. even the pommel is the same. this knife is most likely a 4 seasons brand knife. id bet on it from really close observations. im so convinced by that picture that im happy and quite sure , mine is a 4 seasons brand too.

well, after viewing 100s more. an f,a bower shows up that points me in that direction again. hmmmm . no good way to tell, but ive narrowed it down to 2. im happy with it either way.

the stag handled knives are sought after a little more right now, but I believe in time, an original wooden handled knife will become as desirable , if not more so than the stags. giving both are the same approximate age. especially in the knives of the mid 1900s and older. I might be wrong about that, just as I might be wrong about this knives id. that's why we have discussions. ive been wrong before. it doesn't bother me. being wrong helps get to the facts.

all that is readable under magnification are the so in solingen and the ge in Germany. ive thought about trying to clean it up , but it might do more harm than good.

Andy, "Nevada" is all right. Others on this site call me "Blades" and "N.B.".

Since my middle name is John, I've been called "K.J." since the mid '70's after I finished college and started working full time. My wife and everyone in my family ~ uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews, and in-laws ~ and all my old friends call me John, the name my mother started using after we moved to America. Before then, in Japan, I was called KIYOSHI, which is my given name. When we lived in Durango, Colorado and Farmington, New Mexico, when I was still working, some of my co-workers and clients called me "Vegas", because that's where we lived before moving. But, yeah, NEVADA is fine.

Yes, Whyatt, I have what could be the twin to yours. I went looking for some info on mine, when I found yours. I may be posting mine on CW soon. Also with mine is a sheath that has made in Germany stamped on it. Could you tell me where on the knife I might find ID.
