Found this lovely pair this week. Marked Trifari with crown, no copyright symbol. Does that make them pre 1950's?

Trifari started using copy right symbol in 1955 so they could be early 50's. They look like they were designed by Alfred Philippe. Nice find!

Thanks Vintagemad! I'm always amazed when I find jewelry over 50 yrs. old that still looks great, (if we could all age so well) I think it attests to the quality of the makers and the fact that someone loved it enough to keep them safe! I do a very light cleaning with a soft toothbrush and then they go into a ziplock bag for protection from dust, how do you guys protect your finds? The baggies were the 1st thing I thought of, but I'm sure there are others ways to make sure these beauties are around another 50 years.

I have so many pieces its hard to keep them all safe:( I like to use tool chests, the ones with all the long drawers and the nut and bolts compartments. I line the drawers with foam and make sure that the pieces are not touching one another. For my best pieces I keep them all in their own little boxes. The most important thing to make sure of is they are safe from moisture. That's why I don't use bags, even a change in temp can create moisture and if the bag is damaged or not sealed even a little you could end up with problems.

These earrings are from the 1961 series "memo t0 a smart woman" If you have Julia Carrolls book Collecting Costume Jewelry 202 they are in that. Lovely

Good luck finding the matching brooch. You never know when it will turn up and sometimes in the most unexpected places. It's a great hunt isn't it! I am an addicted costume jewelry collector....just can't pass up such beautiful pieces. I've been wearing them often and feel very elegant. People compliment me on the "beautiful "jewelry I wear....what's better than that?
