I always wanted an ice bucket. At holiday dinners, it seems I always used an old aluminum mixing bowl to ice up water glasses. Not very glamorous when I had out good china!
While trolling a consignment store the other day looking for picture frames, I found this ice bucket/cooler and fell in love with it! The glass was crystal clear and not a bubble in sight. It had a nice ring to it, so decided it had to come home with me. It was also a close match to my old Fostoria American stemmed water glasses. I thought maybe it was Fostoria.
I looked on the Web and found only one other ice bucket like it on Etsy, which they said was from 1950 and French. I don't know. It was surprising there was only one other one like it to be found, as I've hunted for hours!
It measures 9-1/2""tall. The width at the top is 7-1/2"' and the bottom is 5". It weighs 7.5 pounds. The handles are shaped like old fashioned square ice cubes. I think that's what caught my eye in the first place! No marks.
If any one has ideas on manufacturer or dates, I truly appreciate any input!
Thank you for the ?? everybody! After thinking about it, putting ice into a glass bucket weighing over 7 pounds seems crazy. May just need to use my old aluminum mixing bowl to FILL the bucket and then pass the glasses? Or, putdried flowers in there.
