I stopped at out tiny Salvation Army in town and picked up this interesting little pot yesterday. The added bonus of donated baked good from Panera was pretty nice too which comes in on the weekends. It's help yourself to whatever and as much as you want or they pitch it at closing. Their assortment of breads and bagels is always plentiful. As for this little pot, it's a heavy thick ceramic done in a white glaze with incised decoration. Not sure if the crackle is intentional or a sign of age. The bottom has a very distinct embossed mark. It's either a Chinese character or simply the letters EH depending on the orientation. Nothing more that I can really add even after a bit of online sleuthing. -Mike-

SO I had to look up Panera to be in the conversation but still can't join in coz they aren't here in OZ!
Nice pot Mike. The crackle is too good to not be deliberate I think.

Thanks Karen...I agree usually crackle glazes are finer, darker, and more even. This is subtle just like the decoration. As for Panera....they popped up around here in the late 90's. They make quality baked goods and you can pick your bread for sandwiches or choose from scones and muffins to have with coffee. I haven't been there in years. There's no preservatives so they pull it and it goes to our little Salvation Army store. Three shopping carts full of baked goods ! Whole loaves of packaged bread, bagels, muffins...You never know what you'll get but it's great it doesn't go to waste.

That is such a good thing to do - send what they can't sell to a charity.
There is more and more of this happening here; businesses send excess to the City Mission and others to help feed the homeless and disadvantaged. We waste so much food.
Have you found a character yet that this EH could be? Your Asian ceramic knowledge is better than mine but to me the chevron pattern doesn't look Chinese. I would be interested to know what you think - I'm always after answers!

Haven't found anything yet on the EH Karen. I agree the design doesn't look Asian at all. I 'm trying to ID today's find which I posted. A nice art glass vase signed and marked and yet nothing and be read or ID'd. :P...lol
