I bought this vase over 30 years ago just because I love cherubs...or putti as my Dad always said! And no, he wasn't Italian.
It measures 10" tall and 6" across at the handles. The bottom is quite worn. The cherubs and some flowers are in relief. Amazingly enough, not one of the relief items even have a knick! There is some trim in gold that is slightly worn as well.
In doing research once the Internet came into vogue, I thought it might be Meissen. Then found it doesn't have the mark on the bottom. For that matter, there is no mark on the bottom. However, I did find a mark that at one point appeared to have some text and then an "x" with lines or something that was painted on the back side in gold. It is very worn and not readable.
Any ideas anybody as to date or manufacturer? I thought it might be German. Then maybe Japanese, but some of the Japanese relief pieces I have are quite different.
Regardless, I can use as many putti in my life as possible!
Thank you for the??
