Ceramic hand painted figures. Peoples from around the world in different dress. "Japan" on underside. Glazed. Aprrox 4 - 4 1/2" height, width 1 1/4 - 1 1/2" width. Numbered on lower end near bottom. 1-24 some missing.
What are these and how can I find out more?

I found a bunch of these also and am trying to find out more information on them. Did you manage to get any information on them?
i too have a set missing only a few from when i was a kid

Yes, they were collectibles figurines found in tender leaf tea boxes during the 1950's. they were manufactured in occupied Japan. On ebay they can fetch $10.00-$20.00 each depending on condition and rarity of the figurine.
