    (10 items)

Hello all Glass experts! I need your help identifying or confirming the identity of this glass globe ( I say 'Globe' since it is too big to be a paper weight). It is about 10" in diameter and weighs a whooping 7-8 pounds. Similar patterned paper weights said 'Murano- Latticino' but can this big a globe be it?
I am also posting few more glass items with similar queries. I would appreciate your thoughts on it.

I went to the Chrysler Museum of Art on Sunday....for my Birthday :)
The glass collection they have there is "WONDERFUL"!

There you will find so many paperweights from all sizes....when I go back I will either take a video or pic's (if pic's are allowed) and share on youtube.

LOL SpiritBear!! That sounds like a good plan. In fact I do live where Tornado alerts are not rare so I might actually put it to that use :).

Oh Wow! Wish you a belated Happy Birthday melaniej! What better way to celebrate your Birthday than being with all that mind boggling art. I will look forward to those videos or pictures from Chrysler Museum. Thank you so much.
So Is it safe to say that is in fact Murano Latticino?

I have a large one that weighs in about 10 lbs easy, it is a paperweight, luckily I have LED light bases that can run through the colours. I bought mine from auction in the states, Florida, Hammer. This one of yours must be circumference you are measuring it at. The diameter is roughly about 5-6 inches. If it was really 10 inches diameter it would be a lot more than 10 lbs.

I am sure it looks amazing with LED base PhilDMorris, may be you can share a picture of your find.what was the price if I may ask? Thanks for pointing out the discrepancy, I went and checked the weight on proper scale to be sure and it is 10.4 pounds but yes the DIAMETER is 8.4 inches(A diameter is a straight line going through the center of a circle connecting two points on the circumference.) The CIRCUMFERENCE is 22 inches. It possibly weighs a less since it has a hollowed part in the center, there is a hole in the bottom that I missed to include in description. I am not sure if that was made by original owner to put light thru it or it was created that way. I appreciate your giving time and inputs.

It's chock full of Murano style ribbon work Blue, but having never seen one, I can't help as far as a maker. It's a beautiful and unusual piece!
    9. Bluebonnet, 9 years ago
Thank you Rick55. I agree on 'LOT of ribbon work'. It made me think twice before buying, but it being unusual was what made me buy it.

I did a little research... turns out it's Murano in it's Tutti Frutti decor. Here are some examples: http://postimg.org/image/nceeum48t/ http://postimg.org/image/9y5xcbmyl/ http://postimg.org/image/9y5xcbmyl/ http://postimg.org/image/adh75c8vx/

Your welcome Blue. It's a great piece! The other ones were much smaller paperweights. Yours is HUGE!!
