I picked up this compote several years ago for peanuts. Can't find a signature anywhere, but it appears to be well cut. It weighs about 3 pounds. It is 10" tall and about 6" across. Has interesting cuts along the base.

Does anybody have a clue as to manufacturer or date? Maybe it's not that old?

Many companies used the pinwheel as a main motif. Fry, Bergen, Clark, Pitkin and Brooks are a few. The pinwheel was mostly used starting around 1908 until the end of the brilliant period of American cut glass which was 1916-1917 . And yes, your piece is old American Brilliant Cut Glass. The pinwheel is still used in modern cut glass.

mark thank you so much for your input! This compote has had me stumped! On top of that you gave me some new names that I had not heard of before. I am not an expert on American Brilliant Cut Glass, do love it. Thank you again!
