This is now in my top 5 favourite postcards in my collection.
The cute, tough kid; the shocked father; the little story it tells; the colours-- all are wonderful for this hilarious (to me) postcard.
The man walks up and sees that young Billy has again been fighting.
Approaching Billy in an aggressive manner, he asks, "What, fighting again, Billy Johnson? If I were your father I'd give you the stick for that black eye!"
Little Billy points straight at his black eye, and much to the darkly dressed man's surprise, he assertively states, "Go home and lick your own boy,- He's got two!"
And the other man steps back in shock that his perfect son would both fight and lose, and his jaw drops.
This one will likely get framed. The back side of this postmarked-1911 postcard is not nearly as interesting.
ROFL... I loved it!
I must have walked past the small wrack of postcards 15 times before I today stopped and looked through them all, thus finding this one.
I'm glad that you enjoyed.
LOL !! "1911" ?
That is its postmark-- June 2nd, 1911-- which means the design was likely patented in 1910 (which it was) and printing began in late 1910 or early 1911 for England and the U.S. (back side.)
Little scraper!!!
He's a cute little guy, Trey. LOL.
