I bought this dish at the florist shop on the first floor in the Ritz Carleton Hotel in Boston circa 1973. My aunt had a old, round lattice bowl with claw feet that I always admired when I went over her house. I saw this oval one and had to have it. It's still packed away after moving. It's approx. 8" wide x 5" deep x 5" tall. It has gold trim on white china. It has a little "wing nut" underneath that can be unscrewed and the base with legs can be taken off. The dish would then lie flat on the table. It also came with a plain, white, oval, china "liner" that inserted into the dish (I guess to prevent water damage from flowers). I am going to say that it was designed as a floral centerpiece dish. It is numbered 23/386 (I guess 23 out of 386 made ?), but there is no makers mark ? I think it was a bit pricey (for me, a struggling college student) at the time-though I can't remember how much I paid for it
