    (1232 items)

This was the first thing that greeted me as I walked in the door at Salvation Army this morning. It was sitting high up on top of their locked display cabinet by the front door. They also had it upside down. The finished surface is the top. I'm a bit short so I had to stand on my toes to reach it. Sure looked like Roseville to me but it was a hollow pedestal . The only mark was USA on the top surface. So not a fake or copy, in fact it was just too nicely done. I knew what this was but the missing mark was throwing me a curve. The pattern is White Rose #653-8. The 8 meaning the 8" jardinere that was meant to sit on this gorgeous pedestal. Another customer was arguing with me that all Roseville is marked. I told him I'm pretty sure the pedestals are the only exception. I asked the girl that puts out the items and she said she put it out yesterday but someone had tried to switch price tags. They had just put it back out that morning and I was first in the door today ! So if someone is going to that length to get it than this must be the real deal. Once home it was straight to the computer and I found one on "Just Art Pottery's" site for sale and it's worth five times what I paid for it. Now I just need the jardinere. The smaller ones in other colors are out there but the large one in this color combo is going to be hard to find and expensive. Still I have the rarer and perfect condition piece so..Score !! -Mike-

Nah, don't think I could have left this one at the store either! It's a Roseville for crying out loud!

There were others hovering even after I asked the cashier to put it behind the counter for me while I shopped a bit more. She said everyone kept leaning over and looking at it. :)

Oh I am Rick but now all I can think of is where can I find the jardinere to go with it...lol :)

@MFT Well I'm pretty good friends with her and she offered. I was afraid I'd drop it or bump into something and chip it. I only have one other perfect piece. All the others have nicks and chips in them. Hard to find Roseville without them once they wind up at the thrifts. The production people just toss things into carts like everything else.
