Being from Wisconsin I took interest in the stereoviews of H.H. Bennet. I have a few of the ones he published. Today I saw one of his views being sold on ebay and had a case of deja vu. I dug thru my collection and sure enough found an E.W. Kelley card with the same photo on it. It says copyrighted by E.W. Kelley 1904. Bennett died in 1908 and his descendants continued to operate his studio until 1999. Did Bennett sell his photos to other publishers? Why wouldn't Kelley mention the famous photographer? Kind of funny that the Kelley card was always one of my favorites and I never knew it was photographed by Bennet.
While I don't know the specifics on Bennett/ other publishers using his views, I have encountered the same thing numerous times in 19th century photography in several formats (cdv/ cabinet/ stereoviews).
Some big names that come to mind: Brady and Watkins (CA).

I acquired over 200 stereoscope cards when my grandmother passed away. I stumbled across this post and went through some of them finding 7 cards of the Wisconsin Dells published by H.H. Bennett #s 156, 159,177, 179, 242, 261, & 285. I also have one Lovejoy and Foster "Dells of Wisconsin River, Wis" I can see why you like the content of the photos????
