For those not familiar with Windham, NH, "Chick" Austin opened a summer theater in town in 1946. Austin had spent years as the director of the Wadsworth Atheneum. He was one of the first to organize an exhibition of the works of Alexander Calder. Much more about Austin can be found at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Everett_Austin,_Jr. There has also been a lengthy biography of Austin published under the title of "Magician of the Modern". The playhouse in Windham was quintessential New England summer theater, and many of the shows often opened to sellout crowds.
