Shandy, My Carved Turkish Horse

This horse was a present to me from some British friends during the summer of 2013, when I worked in a local hotel resort in Dalyan, Turkey. I originally saw this horse in one of the local shops (boy, did they have gorgeous stuff in there!) and mentioned it to two friends who were staying at the hotel. I said that the shopkeeper thought the horse was totally ugly and didn't think anyone would want it. I then said I was going to go back and buy it as soon as I got my week's pay. The next day, a package appeared on my bar. My friends had gone to the shop and bought the horse! The shopkeeper told them that they couldn't buy it because it was reserved for an American. As soon as they told her my name and that it was for me, she let them buy it.

There is a wood carver in Istanbul who supplies the shop with all their wooden items
(stuff to die for!), and he was the one who carved this horse.

I think Shandy is totally adorable.
