After a long posting break, I would like to share with you this beautiful art nouveau enamel necklace by Gourdel Vales & Co. The vitreous blue-green enamel is in great condition. The floral design is reminiscent of lotus flowers and have mother of pearl at the centre, which is slightly worn. The dropper is a baroque pearl. The back is in blue enamel, which is a bit damaged, and bears the maker’s mark and assay stamps for Birmingham. I believe GV&Co pieces were also retailed at Liberty, they certainly fit the style. I think this particular one has been influenced by the work of James Cromar Watt. I hope you like it.
