Opps i've managed to post the picture upside down!
Sorry, but we don't give evaluations here on CW.
Are these brass? Quite pretty! If not brass, do you see any silver or other marks anywhere on these pieces?
I have looked at the items and cant find any hall marks or silver. Ive searched the internet but can't find out anything about them. My mum seems to remember my great grandad travelled a lot so I would love to find out where he may have picked these up from on his travels
These look Middle Eastern to me. Well, at least somewhere in that general direction. I wonder if they are Turkish. The Caretta-Caretta is a sea turtle which still lives in the Mediterranean. The brooch reminds me of the Turkish crescent moon and star symbol, although the "star" looks more like a planet!
Welcome to Cw :-)
Great first post, with beautiful family memories :-D
The demi parure is right in victorian or French Napoleon III era, moorish style, when Kashmir Paisley fabrics were fashion rage!
May be made of pinchbeck with real turquoises.
For the turtle, a pic of the back would be useful for time frame, I feel it more young costume jewelry with faux stones, but can't see well.
