    kyratango
    (439 items)

This one is a religious subject, from a painting Annibale Carracci painted between 1595 and 1597.

Impossible to take it of the wall in the staircase without killing myself, sorry, you won't see the back!

Big, about 50 cm high, some bugs (!!!) holes and fraying in the silk support.

THANK YOU PARIS 925 FOR IDENTIFICATION :-)

As a pagan ;-) I have no knowledge of details in Christian evangelism.
So hoping someone well educated will know!

Thank you for your informative comment about the halo :-)

      That's interesting. I wonder what A.G.S.P.F. means......

Now I'm curious....my Latin isn't fabulous... :( Maybe I will take a sniff around the web and see if I manage to find anything.
    4. kyratango kyratango, 9 years ago
My latin is very basic and my religion inexistant, and my search for the acronym gave nothing :-/
      Thank for your support, friends!

Maybe Matisse, s/he seems to know a lot about classical art.

I'm not Christian either so can't help with who what where.
This is delicately done and a fantastic frame too.

Katherine, thank you for trying and for the love! Need a Latinist monk now :-)

Racer, thanks for your love and appreciation :-)

David, merci beaucoup pour le lien, je ne trouve toujours rien...

Kevin/Vetraio, thank you for the love, I was hoping you'd have a clue on this one ;-))

Many thanks for the loves, SpiritBear, Caperkid and Torakitty :-)

Another lovely piece of needle work Kyra :).....OK while we're all confessing here...lol I spent a few years in the seminary and thought about becoming a priest. I did take Latin but failed miserably. There are very few remnants left of my Roman Catholic upbringing now that I'm older. I still respect the beliefs I just don't practice them anymore. I know I've seen A.G.S.P.F some where before. I think on holy cards. I agree with Lisa. The story of Rebecca seems correct.

David, comme beaucoup de filles, j'ai du mal avec les représentations dans l'espace! J' ai dû retourner la photo pour voir que c'est LE tableau original, quelle "cruche"! ;-)

I have an idea for the A.G.S.P.F.!

The original painting beeing from artist Annibale Carracci, and I saw it spelled too Annibal Garracci, I wonder if it is not the traditionnal way to tribute the author :

      Annibal Garracci (S?) Pintor Faciebat

This is beautiful kyra. Thank you for sharing it and for everyone else who shared their beliefs. That is brave and usually not a subject anyone would touch with a 10 foot pole but it is what it is and I do believe in Christ and Jesus so you know, I really love it. I don't practice religion and don't know this particular story but this makes me want to read it. Thank you for sharing and everyone being accepting of others. It's all good!! :) As long as we can share our "stuff" here. :)

Thanks OGF! As I said believing in nothing, rather tend to paganism, lol!

I bought it because it is a very old piece of art, and was in my collecting area at the moment.

I enjoyed it for decades before thinking about the story represented :-)

Again, kudos to Paris1925 for the solve!!!

Many thanks to all 20 Samaritan lovers :-D
