    Coil basket tray measures 15 1/4 inches across. I am not sure of its origin or what it's made of. Any help would be appreciated.

      It's a recent import from Pakistan, made from ilala palm fiber, designed to deceive.

      Patterns are taken from Native American Indian baskets, but made from local materials in Pakistan, by Pakistani weavers. These are sold widely in shops, trading posts, roadside stands, and other tourist oriented outlets throughout the Southwest, usually without the added information that these are actually imports.

      And hundreds are usually available at any given time on eBay, some misidentified as Native American Indian, others just listed in the Native American category with the hope a bidder will think they are getting a bargain Indian basket.
