    MyFavorite…
    (39 items)

Glowing Candle Holders -- they stand 8 3/8" tall, confirming TallCakes' discovery of them being identical to the Tiara (bright blue) "Duchess" c1980's (a reissue of earlier Indiana); The green ones may or may not carry this same ID.

A load of gratitude and thanks to Sir TallCakes, for his generosity with his time, expertise, and knowledge, thank you!

Tallcakes might know -- As he knows things like the back of his hand!!!

antiquerose, I know, he is so darn smart; I just hope he's not tiring of me. Seems every time I try to find an identification on anything glass, I come up empty; I think I need "search engine" training, because what I'm doing doesn't seem to work. But thanks for stopping by and for the love; also, for the loves thank you to aura and caperkid!

Just looked at the image you provided TallCakes -- wow! What did you use for your search word? My search words NEVER get me anywhere, this is frustrating!
    10. TallCakes TallCakes, 9 years ago
the motifs that made sense here didn't work; I tried 'ribbed' which didn't seem to work. I found that one by searching thru eBay in the glass category for 'green candlestick'. I also saw another somewhere along the way that was cranberry stained. Seems no one currently listing these has any idea on the maker and I didn't see it one any of the glass reference sites I often search.

Tallcakes, thanks for all you do and share with us. I had tried green ribbed candlestick -- green candlestick, glowing candlestick, depression candlestick, and many more. I said on my previous post, I'm giving up glass. I have promised myself NOT to bring home any more, ever. I drive myself crazy with it. Probably driving you crazy too, LOL

TallCakes, Owner doesn't give maker, but shows them as "vintage from the 1980's".
Do you think that's a good assumption on the date? The blue ones definitely do not look depression to me, nor did the first ones you posted with that solid, chalky color; as a matter of fact, I don't find my greens ones look that old. Just curious.
Thanks for keeping an eye out!

BINGO! thinking these are possibly Fostoria for Tiara and called 'Duchess' c1980s reissue of an earlier Indiana Glass #4 Wedgwood c1918-29

checked the Indiana site and they are also show there as 'Duchess' in the 1982 Tiara catalog. So maker might be Indiana Glass as well, as Tiara Glass was contracted with various glass makers (including Fostoria).

it's also possible that different colors may have been contracted with different companies for Tiara...

So to determine if they're early 1900's or 1980's, height would be the determining factor right? I'll have to re-measure mine (just to be sure) and update this post in the morning. TallCakes, you are genius, thanks!
    20. TallCakes TallCakes, 9 years ago
yes, I agree that the height nay be one of the determining factors. Plus is you examine and compare the top section very closely it appears that the original is convex, whereas the reproduction is concave.
    21. MyFavoriteTreasures MyFavoriteTreasures, 9 years ago
no doubt mine bear more resemblance to the blue ones than to the original ones; I couldn't find them in green as Tiara Duchess but that doesn't mean anything, we all know my search engine skills are challenged LOL. Thanks again TallCakes, you're the best!
    22. TallCakes TallCakes, 9 years ago
you're very welcome. I didn't see other green one anywhere either but agree the detailing appears to match the later issue; maybe something will show up soon. The Horizon Blue 'Duchess' candlesticks were hostess gifts for Tiara in April 1982.

8 3/8" confirmed, TallCakes; original post revised to reflect findings; thanks again!
