Vintage Lucite Moonstones Necklace

Something from my Mom that was passed down to me.....

Vintage Yellow Lucite Moonstone with Brass and oval Yellow Plastic Bead Necklace. The yellow Lucite moonstone beads are oblong. There are clear lucite spacer beads. This was my Mom's................ ( + RIP + )

Lucite is a crystal clear plastic that was introduced by DuPont Corp. in 1937. Being cost effective - Lucite replaced Bakelite by the 1950's, and was used in production of costume jewelry as early as 1940. The most collectible Lucite jewelry is of course, the "Jelly Belly" figurals with a central Lucite "stone". During WWII and through to the 1960's- the pearlized faux moonstone jewelry as quite popular and came in an assortment of colors and shapes.

No marks except on the clasp there is JAPAN impressed. Old style of clasp on it also.
