Emme
(41 items)
I bought this brooch last week and have worn it to work every day. No one can argue with this charming creature. I believe these are Swarovski crystals. This brooch measures 2" long and 1 3/4" wide. The outside of the shell is surround in pale blue crystals that are 1/8" next are medium blue crystals measuring 1/4", followed by pale blue 1/4" crystals and a dark blue 1/4" crystal in the middle of the shell. The turtle's flippers are just 1/2" long dark blue crystals as is the head. The stones are well attached, lots of work, for this reason I think it is a Juliana brooch, but I could be wrong, I am new at this. Anyway, I hope you enjoy looking.
He/she is a beautiful turtle and I am sure you got lots of comments (unless your co-workers have no style I guess).
I love the eyes!
Beautiful Emme. :) Looks like a rhodium finish on the back too.
What an adorable turtle, Emme! Love the little eyes, sooo cute! :)
Love this critter! Sure you get comments when you wear it :-)
Very pretty!
Swarovski is not the name of a crystal, it's the name of a company who uses Austrian crystals in their jewelry.
It's not a Juliana brooch.

Efesgirl, the reason I said Juliana is that when turned over the underside looks like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/107236467/vintage-juliana-brooch-clear-rhinestones?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=juliana%20brooch&ref=sr_gallery_3
Also the work on the settings. I have searched and searched, I am guessing, of course. Thanks for the compliment and the info.
Can't give an id, but thinking this link may help, seems rather well made:

Nor can say if it is made of Swarovski crystals, but another link to them:

I looked at the Julianna site and the turtles they did were different, but this turtle certainly seems to have some of their qualities. My thought is that it might be D&E designing for someone else, as they did work for many other high end jewelers before and after Julianna (which only lasted two years).
The turtle brooches made by Julianna which are pictured on the web all show the rhinestone jewel settings in the head and flippers to be open rather than closed. You can see that here:

Information listed on Pinterest says that Julianna jewelry used rhinestones and not Austrian crystals used by Swarovski in their jewelry.
Here are some D&E turtle brooches. The design is very different.
