This knife has all the construction details of an Italian stiletto. "Rostfrei" is a word used in Europe to designate stainless steel (essentially "rust free"; NOT used on cutlery before 1922). It's not early enough to have been used in the Boer War(s) (1880–1881 and 1899–1902). If it's not marked "Italy" somewhere it is PROBABLY pre-1964, maybe ca. 1955. The stag handles are a nice touch; they are usually cattle horn, and later plastic. And the folding cross-guard is unusual.
It looks like its copper/brass down the center where the blade sits when folded, also is double sided at thr tip of the blade
Helllp?????
Uncle Ron filled you in. This is not an old knife and has nothing to do with the Boar War.

Maybe it was in the "bore" war-- anyone who has served will tell you, at times many conflicts are a "bore war".
