I found this ring at our local Sunday flea market about 4 months ago.
It was in a display of costume jewelery the man was selling for 2.00 each. The vivid green of the stone caught my eye so I picked it up and examined it furtherI thought to myself that this must be a true emerald as that is my birth stone for May.The metal was unmarked so I assumed it was maybe Sterling silver so I made my 2.00 purchase On the way home we stopped at the coin show where my good friend is s dealer in precious metals .He has this 20.000 gun that he tests the silver and gold with. So he tested this ring for me and offered me 400.00 scrap price for it.The silver ring turned out to be a heavy platinum setting with a 4 1/2 caret Columbian emerald
Surrounded by a picture frame of diamonds .Needless to say I didn't take him up on his offer.
Wow!!! You are very lucky!!! When I saw your ring my first thought was is it an emerald? I would like to find something like this in the junk shops lol
(-: (-: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) :-)
Thank you
I am blessed with the ability of finding nice things for very little money .Half the fun is researching them as well.
Amazing!!! To the Hunter goes the spoils! Did you clean it up? If not, might be platinum.
Wowza! !!!!
That is quite a SCORE !!!
Oh, sorry, somehow I missed the heavy platinum comment.
Marvelous find, hurrah for you!!!
Simply too good to be true. Was the 4 1/2 caret measured or estimated?
Good morning!!! I was in shock when I found this ring too.I took It to my good friend that deals in precious metals and is a gemologist as well.He estimated the
Size of the Emerald as you would have to ruin the setting to take it out and measure it properly .
Oh,...such a lovely ring,....can't imagine doing that.
I love it when I hear stories like this, freaking fantastic!!!!
Wow! What a great find!!! Awesome
