I recently picked up this Trench Art Lighter.

The lighter is made to look like a WW1 era map case or satchel.

The back has the soldiers initials, USA, and serial number.

The serial number is within the range issued at Camp Pike, AR to the 87th Division in FEB/ MAR 1918. The 87th made it overseas in SEP 1918, but didn't fight as a unit. It was used as a pool of laborers.

I just wish there was a way to trace the serial number to a name! WW2 era records are much easier to work with! Thanks for the love,
