Does anyone know what this style of bowl is/was used for? About 4" wide, lid with no handle, marked Imperial Seto Yaki OKAN.

Would you post a photo of the bottom please. I have a similar size and shape of your lovely piece. As far as I know this would be on a ladies dresser as a trinket, or pin dish?

Hi, thanks for your response. And I added a photo of the bottom.

I would agree with Gillian. At one time it was probably one piece of a vanity/dresser set. The dome lid is indicative of such trinket boxes.
