I was given this desk 6 years ago or so. I never thought anything of it until a friend said they thought it could be very old. After closely observing it and searching the web. It is handcrafted. All Mahogany and is a Chippendale piece. I also have a Chippendale chair that was given with it. Would anyone know how to find out the age of these pieces? There is no info anywhere to be found on them.
Thanks
Hello and welcome. I don't have a lot of experience with furniture, vintage or antique. But I have spent many hours researching different styles, periods etc. If you know nothing of Thomas Chippendale's work, here are a couple of articles that I would encourage you to read. Actually one is an 'image' site. The image site has some original authentic Chippendale pieces, as well as those made 'in the style of Chippendale'.

This is a good one from CW http://www.collectorsweekly.com/search.php?q=chippendale
Apologies for rambling on, but you asked if anyone would know how to find out the age of your furniture - I've offered you a lot of information, so I suggest you do some research of your own sites I've sent, and type in 'Chippendale Desk' in the browser of your computer. Information is everywhere, not difficult to find at all.
