A reproduction Rosko Astronaut Robot made by the fine tin toy artisans at the Osaka Tin Toy Institute. Stands about 13" tall, robot strides, arms swing, emits morse code ? beeps from radio and helmet is illuminated. Very fine workmanship went into this piece and I admire the people who still do this for a living that they obviously love....... from Japan to China to India..such cool toys...I mean collectibles.....toys in my day at least.

Never had any tin robots when I was a kid. I would have to go to the neighbours kid to see the best toys of the day. This looks like a great one to start a collection.

I love your posts showing us these newer collectible robots. We have only been able to find Chinese replicas or older Japanese ones at silly prices, so to see quality bots like this is great!

Thanks racer4four. The new Japanese collectibles are not cheap but their robots are extremely well made and the newer ones are now using 1 to 2 AA batteries instead of the clunky D batteries. The Chinese robots and tin toys though are very affordable and a good way to start collecting. Have a bit of both. Personally I like the newer Japanese robots over the vintage ones.

You're welcome racer4four. Thanks for your comments.....do you know anything about Stengl dinnerware and pottery once made in Trenton NJ?

Some of the Stengl ware appears in the background of some of my photos.
