This is one of my finds from today's markets. There is a little bit of enamel missing from the wing, but I expect I can repair that. Even the back of the bird has been enameled. Looks like gold. No marks. I will get it tested this week.
This is the first stick pin I've seen with tiny rivets in the back.

Thanks to the sharp eyes of Kyratango, I now know the era when this pin was made and that it contains rose cut diamonds. I had a closer look and, by golly, they are rose cut diamonds!

UPDATE 3/17/2016: Had the stickpin tested. The actual bird is 18K. The pin itself is gold filled.

    Thanks for looking! ~Bonnie~

      TinMachine60 - yep, $1.00. Yesterday I bought 14k gold for $4.00
      :-)
      I posted that yesterday.

Upon first sight, this hit me with one of those nostalgic feelings. Just for a fleeting moment, and then it was gone. Been trying to recapture that feeling and figure it out, but I guess it'll remain a mystery to me. Thanks for sharing, Girl. [;>)

It is a wonderful stick pin!!!
I think you got a solid gold and rosecut diamonds tweetie :-)
It would stick perfectly in my collection ;-)

kyra - I had a closer look and you're right. The stones have the pyramid cut of rose diamonds. How about them apples. The construction of the pin is what made it stand out among a bunch of costume jewelry on the seller's table.
Never had a gold stick pin before.... :-)
I will find out the gold content this week and let you know.

      :-) :-)

kyra, is this one also decorated with Champlevé?
    8. kyratango kyratango, 9 years ago
I bet you'll find it is 18 carats gold :-)), first of a collection?

When hunting I caught many among crap, could ifentify as good only because of the construction, the famous "too good to be brass" ;-D

For the enamel, I won't call it champlevé, though on the wings it hat been applied in kind of cells.

And perhaps, at one time, he held a tiny dangling pearl in his beak...

Fantastic Find!!!! You really do shop like me!!!! The best things I own were purchased for very little money at the flea market and yard sales!!!!
    11. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 9 years ago
kyra - this pin does have the richness of 18K, now that you mention it.

I wondered why the beak was bent. I should find a tiny pearl on a gold chain and add it, yes? :-) You're just super, you know that? :-)
