    This ring is some what of a mystery to me .The stone is color changing depending on the light .Sometimes it a raspberry color sometimes dark purplish blue and amethyst as well.It is set in an 18kt gold mounting.

      Natural ones are very rare, very often they are synthetic with same color changing depending of natural/electric light :-)

      If it were Alexandrite, it would have brown color properties, as I recall. Beautiful stone and ring, be interesting to hear what the jeweler says. :)

      i do believe it is definitely alexandrite and if someone cared enough to place it in a 18K gold setting it just might be the real mc coy --russia is known for thier natural alexandrites and also use the high contents of gold -- keep us all posted on this one -- you might have gotten lucky and just won the lottery on this one

      Alexandrite can change colors and no brown in it . I hope it is because you truly lucked out ! Will wait to hear what you find out .
