This ring is some what of a mystery to me .The stone is color changing depending on the light .Sometimes it a raspberry color sometimes dark purplish blue and amethyst as well.It is set in an 18kt gold mounting.

maybe you are seeing a burgundy flash.....who how nice this would be if it's a rare tanzanite!!!
Alexandrite ?
Manikin, think you're right!
Natural ones are very rare, very often they are synthetic with same color changing depending of natural/electric light :-)
Thank u ladies for the info. I'll bring it to my jeweler friend next week and will post his findings
If it were Alexandrite, it would have brown color properties, as I recall. Beautiful stone and ring, be interesting to hear what the jeweler says. :)
i do believe it is definitely alexandrite and if someone cared enough to place it in a 18K gold setting it just might be the real mc coy --russia is known for thier natural alexandrites and also use the high contents of gold -- keep us all posted on this one -- you might have gotten lucky and just won the lottery on this one
Alexandrite can change colors and no brown in it . I hope it is because you truly lucked out ! Will wait to hear what you find out .
Thanks again ladies. I will keep you posted !!!
OOOO00000000oooooooo......... Love it!!
